Türkiye have dropped four places in the FIFA world rankings. Defeats to France and Italy in the UEFA Nations League saw them fall from 27th to 31st position.
The recent results led to a significant points deduction. A 1-0 loss to France on September 25th was followed by a 4-1 home defeat to Italy in Bursa three days later. These outcomes pushed Türkiye out of the world's top 30.
THE TOP 10
Spain currently lead the rankings with 2002.34 points. They are followed by Argentina on 1970.37 points and France with 1957.10. The top 10 is completed by England, Morocco, Brazil, Portugal, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Italy, who beat Türkiye, sit in 15th place.
This drop is a concern ahead of World Cup qualifying. They have won only one of their last five official matches.
Türkiye's next test comes quickly. They face Belgium away on October 2nd and must get a result to avoid further slippage in the rankings. The coach and players are assessing fan reactions. One supporter said, "Bu ruhsuzlukla 1. Olmasını mı bekliyordunuz" (Did you expect to be first with this lack of spirit?). The match against Belgium will be played away from home.
