The Turkish Football Federation has parted ways with head coach Vincenzo Montella. The federation's executive board decided not to renew his contract following a meeting held today.
Montella's Türkiye lost its last four matches. That poor run began with a 3-1 defeat to Italy on 5 October and continued with a 3-0 loss to Belgium on 2 October. The team's recent results and squad form contributed to the federation's radical decision.
The Turkish Football Federation Executive Board stated, "Türkiye Futbol Federasyonu Yönetim Kurulu, today in its meeting, decided to continue its duty until the date of the ordinary elective general assembly." The same meeting also brought changes to the federation's management. The board announced, "It has been decided to appoint reserve board members Mr. İbrahim Özbay and Mr." Serdar Yıldız was appointed secretary-general, with Ahmet Erzurumlu named deputy secretary-general.
The Italian coach led Türkiye in 40 matches during his tenure. He recorded 21 wins, 5 draws, and 14 losses. Under his leadership, the team participated in the World Cup and was promoted from Nations League B to League A. However, recent unsuccessful results led to the separation. The national team's next fixture is a friendly against Belgium at home on 12 November. With the search for a new head coach now beginning, the team's schedule continues with that match.
